A+ Prep
A+ Certification is an internationally recognized credential backed by major computer hardware and software companies. As a Certified A+ Technician you will be able to: Analyze computer problems, Disassemble any computer for rebuild or upgrade, Design and operate a companies computer maintenance, Recommend compatible hardware and software.
You need not have any experience in the field to enroll in A+ Computer Technician Training. Familiarity with basic computer operations and navigation of an operating system is adequate. ILU's given for this course.
Ballroom Dancing
This course is for couples only. Whether you want to dance with your star or under the stars, this course is for you. This is a beginning course and will give you the needed confidence to step out on the dance floor and take a spin. This course will familiarize you with some of the beginning steps to many of the ballroom dances.
Child Care
Child Care is available for the children of adult students while they are enrolled in night classes. Children will receive homework assistance as well as participate in arts and crafts and reading. Children must be 3 to 12 years old and potty trained. We cannot accept children who are in diapers. The facility and policy does not allow for it.
Digital Photography II
This class will teach you the basics of preparing and printing your digital pictures using Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0. Students will use hands on editing and printing in a computer lab to make their pictures. The instructor is an amateur photographer and has years of experience. He is excited about offering this course at Forest Hill. This course is limited to 18 students so register early. This course offers ILU's.
Floral Design I and II (NEW)
This course has grown to Floral Design II. The instructor has been teaching at other schools for 4 years. Floral Design I includes hands on and includes the art, skills as well as, short cuts in floral design. Floral Design II has been requested by the students of Floral Design I. More information and beautiful floral designs await the student. Register early.
French and Italian
These courses have been redesigned by the instructor from comments and suggestions from the students. While many of the lessons will remain the same, the course will be based off of the Berlitz foreign language courses. These courses have been successful in the past and with the changes will be more so. Register early. These two courses fill quickly.
Golf
Golf returns to Forest Hill Adult and Community Education. The West Palm Beach Golf Course, formerly the West Palm Bach Country Club will host the Forest Hill Golf Academy. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced golfers will learn and experience the fundamentals of driving, chipping, and putting. The classes will be in the morning and a professional will be on hand to assist you in making your game better. There is a $5.00 per week charge for range balls.
Golf at Night New
How can that be? Golf at the new facility at John Prince Park will be under the lights as an instructor gives you some tips on the use of woods, irons and putting. The folks at John Prince Park are excited about becoming a part of Forest Hill Community Education. We are excited to be able to bring you a day thing at a "night thing."
Golf Club Making and Repair, Project Oriented (NEW)
This class is a one evening class which will reveal the assembly of making golf clubs, repair, and gripping. Each student in the class will make their own golf club and it will be theirs to keep. Class size is limited. Golfers you will not want to miss this class. Register early. We will offer three classes. The class will be held at Golfsmith at Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard next to Brandsmart. The course is $30 + materials (20% discount on materials night of class).
"Google On" New
I didn't know a search engine could do that! Well, "Google On"! This short course is 5 weeks long. During that time, you will find out that Google is not just a search Engine anymore. The instructor is our IT person here at Forest Hill and he will give you more information in this short class than a lot of classes give in 8 weeks. This class will become very popular, register early. This course offers ILU's.
Guitar
This class will give you the basic techniques to play a guitar. You must have your own guitar. Acoustic, bass or electric guitar is OK. If it is electric you will need a battery amp. This class could be the beginning of a new career or "keep your day job" and enjoy playing the guitar.
In and Out the Windows (NEW)
Basic Computers
This class is for students who may or may not have computers. This is for first timers who need to get computer savvy fast. You will be exposed to all aspects of the computer and gain a basic knowledge. Students will touch on painting, drawing, writing text, and saving information on disks . This course offers ILU's.
Japanese
This class will teach you the fundamentals of conversational Japanese. Part of the class will be used to teach some of the cultural aspects of Nipon. Join this class and dare to look as we lift the veil of the Orient through discovering the language and the wonderful culture of the Japanese.
Mobile Electronics
This course is presented to the student as a self paced computer course that will give the learner the opportunity to do hands on in the lab. At the completion of this course you will be able to install car radios navigation system, security systems, and basic electronic trouble shooting for automobiles. . This course offers ILU's.
QuickBooks Pro (NEW Version 2007)
This class is quick and complete. The course is the 2007 version lab pack. Students are given the basics of QuickBooks Pro. Previous students have included new business owners, as well as business personnel who have added a new version of QuickBooks Pro. Many students take this course for the information of utilizing QuickBooks Pro for home or office. This class is very popular and is offered 2 times during each term. We use the latest version of QuickBooks Pro we can get for a computer lab. The instructor has been teaching this course for 4 years. Register early. This course offers ILU's.
QuickBooks Pro Spanish Version 2007

Tai Chi
This class means low impact, high return on workout. Tai Chi is a new class for us at Forest Hill. This is a beginning course, with the opportunity for intermediate and advanced classes in the future. Begin this workout regiment from the orient and be able to reroute energy when and where you need it. Class is limited, register early.
YOGA I New Teacher
We are proud to bring YOGA back to Forest Hill. We have hired a new teacher and this course will be 8 weeks. Students will be presented with breathing and meditations and beginning positions. This course is a physical workout. Bring your Yoga mat and a towel. This class has always been popular when we have offered it.
Yoga II New Teacher
This course is for yoga students who are past the beginning positions. This course takes the experienced Yoga student to more positions a little more difficult workout with many of the same stretches, meditations and breathing. This course continues a physical workout.
Zoo Volunteer Education Guide
Adult and students who are eighteen years or older may register for a class which will be held at the Zoo. The class will prepare you as a volunteer at the Zoo to help with tours, and other educational programs. Students will learn about animal conservation and animal habitat, the history of zoos, public speaking and making presentation. Students will mentor with a worker at the Zoo and then become a Zoo Docent. Students must be friendly, outgoing and dependable. Students must also be T.B. negative and tested within the last year.
ILU's
International learning Units (ŠLERN)(ILU's) are educational learning units or points which are calculated for classes, seminars and events participants who attend and pass tests, quizzes, and hands on learning with 80% one ILU for each cluster of five content items. Forest Hill Community High School will be offering ILU's for our students and participants in several classes, please note the courses we are offering . Some businesses and organizations will accept ILU's as well as CEU's (Continuing Education Units) ILU's will be kept by Forest Hill and awarded on certificates of completion. Employers and businesses are encouraged to accept ILU's and receive more information from Lern.org.
