COMPUTERS
Computer Hardware Repair and Troubleshooting
Identifies the functions of all PC components, and how to diagnose problems with these components and fix them. Teaches how to disassemble and reassemble the PC, how to replace or upgrade components and how to add peripherals such as printers, modems, and scanners. This class includes hardware preventive maintenance and trouble shooting techniques.
Course Objectives:
1) To introduce the student to computer hardware and operating systems. 2) To acquire skills in diagnosing problems and making appropriate repairs. 3) To acquire skills in assembling and disassembling computers and peripherals. 4) To introduce the student to the proper configuration of modern PC's. 5) To raise the level of safety awareness when working on PC's and peripherals.

Intermediate Computers
Upon completion of the course you will be able to complete various functions using Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel. You will review document creation (editing, copy, cut & paste) and formatting (font, appearance and placement). You will learn about the tool bars, keyboard commands and how to customize your computer. Setting up a default printer, copying files to a 3 ˝" floppy, CD-R, and Jump drive as well as downloading programs to pc to install will be covered topics.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel
This course is designed to further develop skills in working with Microsoft Excel 2000. Topics to be covered will include: Using large worksheets, splits and freezes, multiple worksheets, managing worksheets, including copying and renaming, working with outlines, HTML files and hyperlinks, using labels in formulas, creating graphs, managing data, introduction to pivot tables and creating online forms. Excel is the most widely used worksheet software. It is the right choice if you are trying to develop marketable skills and find employment.

Intermediate Microsoft Word
This class is a continuation of Introduction to Microsoft Word and builds on basic skills learned in the first class. Those who have a familiarity with Word can also benefit from this skills building class. It is taught in a computer lab setting, with a hands-on approach. Come and learn about toolbars, buttons, and functions you may not have noticed before! Learn to use clip art, tables that create documents, envelop printing, mailing labels, page numbering and many other features.

Introduction to Access
This course will teach students the following: What a relational database is and the special terms that refer to a database, how to edit an existing database, how to create a basic database that has tables of raw data, queries to select and organize the data, forms to view and input data on a screen, and reports to print the data.

Introduction to Computers Using Windows
This course is intended for students who are just entering into utilization of a computer for enhancing their daily lives. It will familiarize the student with the history of the computer, its function and basic operation. It will also provide the student with a basic understanding of using Windows operating system and the Internet.
Objectives:
1) Become familiar with computer terminology. 2) Gain an understanding of the personal needs for computer use and individual selection of a computer based on those needs. 3) Understand the operation of the computer hardware and how it relates to the computer operating system. 4) To practice and become proficient with the use of the hardware components of the computer (mouse, floppy drive, CD ROM Drive, etc.) 5) To be able to navigate the various aspects of the windows menu operation. 6) To locate, activate, move and utilize the programs and files that may reside or created on the computer. 7) To create or change the appearance of the Windows Desktop. 8) To learn basic access of the Internet and how to navigate through web sites.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Excel is an electronic spread sheet program that makes working with numbers a pleasure instead of a chore. You will be learning about the basic tools Excel provides you with to create dynamic charts and spreadsheets. Excel is the most widely used worksheet program in both home and business. You will be amazed at the power and simplicity of Excel and how easy it is to learn.

Introduction To Microsoft Word
Hand-on training in creating business memos, business memorandums, reports, flyers, and resumes. Emphasis is on proper formatting of the pages, paragraphs, and words. Some of the activities are putting graphic in a document, making bulleted and numbered lists, using tables to create a resume, and creating an envelope with the Delivery and Return addresses. Other topic suggested by the students may be covered as time permits.

Mastering your Video Camera - w/ Editing [Laptop Required]
Students will utilize their own personal video camera to learn the proper techniques in the production of film video. The class will complete video storytelling assignments while learning the ins and outs of their personal video cameras.
Objectives:
Becoming familiar with camera parts and features - Gaining an understanding of different camera shots - Learning the proper framing of your shots- Learning the techniques of camera angles - Proper placement of the camera and editing the video productions in the camera.

Configuring XP & Connecting to a Wireless/Wired Network
Student will learn how to install Windows XP, configure Window XP updates to keep system up to date and how to configure systems to protect against viruses, spy ware etc., The class will be introduced to configuring and connecting to a Wireless/Wired Network

Administrative Assistant
This course introduces concepts that if put into practice will make the student an indispensable administrative assistant. Students will be introduced to resume writing pointers, job interviewing techniques, and proper business attire and time management/work prioritization skills. Also to be discussed are proper telecommunications, e-mail communication procedures and office interpersonal communication skills, including a review of business grammar. Students will learn how to create business documents with the use of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
By the end of this course, the student will have knowledge to:

This class will examine and will give you hands on practice with the process through which grant proposals are written. Elements of this process include learning:

Medical Insurance Billing - Using Medisoft Billing Program
Medical Office Billing is a computer course with hands on lessons on how to set up a medical billing program, inputting all required data to submit claims to insurance companies. Students will be able to view and print claims, patient statements and print reports that a doctor might require.

Medical Office Procedures
Medical Office Procedures is a theory class with an introduction to skills necessary to work in a Medical Office or Medical Billing Environment. Students will learn about verbal and written communication, medical disciplines, types of different insurances, reviewing of insurance denials & how to fill out claim forms.

Keyboarding/Increase Your Typing Skills
After completing this course, the student will be able to type by touch (without looking at the keyboard), type a minimum of 35 W.P.M. with 90% accuracy.

Wedding Planning
This course is and excellent class for those who are planning a wedding, or professional wedding planners, or those who just like to be creative. The class will cover everything from designing and creating floral arrangements to decorating the church and reception area. The class will also learn how to create the look the bride is seeking. A number of the classes will be held in the instructor's studio in Boynton Beach as it would be too cumbersome to transport on a weekly basis the great wealth of materials required for this class.
The instructor will also go into detail about preparing a wedding budget for the bride and groom. The first thing you do as a wedding planner is guide the bride and groom in making sure they do not spend more money than they want to. Preparing a wedding budget is difficult but the instructor will provide examples and show you a very easy way to accomplish this task. A detailed wedding timeline is given so that participants will know when and how much time the bride and groom have to get certain activities done before the wedding day! The wedding industry is a 42 billion dollar industry and a lot of people want to work from home by becoming wedding planners. After taking the course, you too, should be able to get started in running your own Wedding Planning Business.
There is an art to making a wedding special and this class will show you how to make it unique and memorable for the bride and groom, their families and guests
LANGUAGES
Advanced Creole
This course will have two main objectives. The first is learning to read and pronounce Haitian Creole with a reasonable degree of accuracy and ease. The second objective is gaining a basic understanding of the Haitian culture. In achieving these goals, students will enhance their speaking and reading Haitian Kreyol.

Beginning Creole
This class will provide the learner with language needed to survive in situations in which Creole must be used. The major focus of this class is to give the learner essential vocabulary needed to communicate in everyday life. The objective of this class is to overcome the frustrating problem of not being able to express oneself in a practical everyday situation. The first class presents the vocabulary needed to survive at an elementary level of proficiency and is intended for the student who has not had a great deal of exposure to the Creole language.

Beginning Spanish
This class will provide the learner with language needed to survive in situations in which Spanish must be used. The major focus of this class is to give the learner essential vocabulary needed to communicate in everyday life. The objective of this class is to overcome the frustrating problem of not being able to express oneself in a practical everyday situation.
The first class presents the vocabulary needed to survive at an elementary level of proficiency and is intended for the student who has not had a great deal of exposure to the Spanish language.

MISCELLANEOUS
Exploring World Religions
A review of the wisdom and history of Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Baha'ism. Other modern and primal religions will be reviewed as the class interest may dictate. The class is non bias, and welcomes the sharing of personal experience and polite opinion. Several illustrated college text books will be used as reference material, and weekly summary handouts will be distributed. Come and enjoy tying together a world of Positive Reflection.

Cooking
A Taste of the Caribbean This class is 8 weeks of preparing some of the most delectable dishes you have tasted. Using spices from the Islands, you will create exotic, delicious, healthy, island cuisine. These meals are fun to prepare in a minimum amount of time.

How To Start A Home-Based Business
Starting your own business-the ultimate American Dream. It's not as difficult as it may appear. This course will show you how to make the dream a reality for you. Math Refresher Course
This course provides a transition from arithmetic to algebra and shows the relevancy of mathematics in everyday life and in the workplace. Students review whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percents plus develop skills using algebraic variables, terms and equations.

SPORTS

Cardio Fitness
The purpose of this Cardio Fitness class is to provide instructions which will develop knowledge, skills and positive attitudes in health and fitness awareness. Cardio Fitness places an emphasis on developing cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, strength and muscular endurance through traditional aerobics, stability ball usage and circuit/interval aerobic workouts.

Golf
Classes are held at Lone Pine Golf Club and Driving Range, 6251 N. Military Trail, across the street from the Rapids Water Park. This course is designed for all levels of players. We limit class size to 12 students so instructor may give individual attention to each student. We ask that you bring your own clubs (a seven or eight iron will do nicely). For beginners, the six essentials of good golf shall be emphasized: grip, stance, posture, alignment, ball position and swing. There is a weekly fee for a bucket of balls, around $ 7.00.
