Community Education Teacher of the Year
Leslie Millar
Forest Hill Community High School
Leslie Millar is the Childhood Enhancement Academy coordinator and teacher at Forest Hill Community High School at night and a Parent Power Liaison at Wynnebrook Elementary School by day. She is a real asset to our night school program.
The Childhood Enhancement Academy is program for the children of Adult Education students, ABE, GED and ESOL, as well as Community Education students to attend and expand their learning, receive homework assistance and participate in recreational activities. Mrs. Millar maintains professionalism in the classroom setting and works with adults, their children and their teachers.
She assists in developing the curriculum for the Childhood Enhancement Academy and coordinates learning activities with the Adult Education teachers. Mrs. Millar is involved with making sure that Parents and Children Together (PACT) time learning activities are implemented weekly. She maintains a scrapbook and curriculum guide of all activities developed.
She has been instrumental in making the academy a model for the district and is in the process of replicating this at Conniston Community Middle School.
Mrs. Millar’s efforts allow parents to participate in Adult and Community Education classes while learning to participate in their children’s education. She is every bit a professional and dedicated teacher.
