ART
Watercolor Gourmet - Take the challenge out of watercolors by learning basic techniques
coupled with basic pantry items to create beautiful paintings. The Watercolor Gourmet will use her 35+ years of art teaching experience to show you the who, what, when, where and why of this fun medium.
Oil Painting-Goals: Bringing out artistic talents; Learning and practicing the oil painting techniques; communicating ideas and feelings through the artwork.
Activities: Painting related vocabulary; charcoal and pencil drawing; learning to sketch; copying objects from reality; working on values; chart color learning; color practices; painting on canvas one or more subjects of your choice.
COMPUTERS
MS Excel (Beginner/Intermediate)-
This course starts with basic skills such as data entry, cell formatting and formulas. You will then tackle advanced features such as charting, financial functions, the IF function, macros, Lookup, Pivot Tables and integration with Microsoft Word and the web. Self-contained projects that depict real-world business tasks help students apply and retain knowledge.
MS Excel Advanced-
This course is a continuation of Beginner/Intermediate
MS Word Beginner-
You will learn how to use fonts, paragraphing and page formatting, how to do reports, resumes and how to work with tables.
MS Word Intermediate-
You will learn how to use clip-art, e-mail documents, address envelopes, create outlines, styles, templates and web pages.
Photoshop- (CS3 Adobe)
Beginning- Whether you take photos for family albums or to produce artistic prints, Photoshop is most often the editing program of choice. There are several versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Each version has some different "bells and whistles", but each has the same common tools, menu bars, and adjustments choices.
We will cover those basics in this class. So no matter which version you work with, this class will get you off to the right start!
Intermediate- OK! You've got the basics! You know how to find your image files, what the adjustment choices do and how to use the tools. Now it's time to work with LAYERS, LAYER MASKS, and SELECTIONS to combine multiple images into sensational prints. No matter what version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements you use, these techniques are common to them all. This class is for users of every version who are ready to take the next step.
Power Point-
Learn the basics of the Microsoft PowerPoint software program and some more advanced skills.
CRAFTS/HOBBIES
Calligraphy-
Students will learn to address envelopes, write place cards, invitations, and poems, etc. They will also improve their writing. Both left-handed and right-handed people are welcome.
Furniture Refinishing- Bring your own piece. We will follow the necessary steps to refinish your furniture: Cleaning, removing old washes; Sanding; Filling wood; Dents treatments; Staining & Polishing.
Stained Glass- The class will include: Explanation of glass; Explanation of glass cutting tools and a list of supplies that will be needed; The first project will be four piece butterfly. This project will include glass and pattern brought by the instructor as well as the tools that will be supplied for the first class only; Instruction for the remaining classes will include the standard procedure for cutting and creating a stained glass project. This includes: cutting glass to fit the pattern; copper foiling each piece of glass, soldering the pieces together; and cleaning and polishing the finished project.
Scrapbooking- This is a scrapbooking class for every level of scrapbooker or paper crafter from beginner to novice. We will be learning a variety of paper crafting techniques while we create beautiful scrapbook pages and/or handmade cards. Supply list will be determined the first night of class and may vary depending on the desires of the class.
FITNESS/SPORTS
Aerobics (Low Impact)-
Aerobics is a fun, exhilarating class that conditions the heart and lungs by increasing the efficiency of oxygen intake to the body. This class will build your stamina, aid in flexibility and help you to feel physically fit. The program includes: warm up, cardio workout, cool down, floor work including all major muscle groups and stretching.
Golf- Course covers fundamentals of full swing, short game, rules and etiquette. Students may bring their own clubs or borrow clubs from the teaching center. $6.00 materials charge each class.
Tai Chi- The ancient Chinese martial art of Tai Chi is practical in many styles. All share a common philosophy and will provide practitioners with the benefits: balance, focus, relaxation, stress management, breathing improvement, physical development.
Tennis-
3.5+ Singles - An Intermediate round robin format.
3.0 Singles- An advanced beginner to intermediate round robin singles league. No lessons. Match play.
3.5+Singles - An intermediate round robin format.
3.0-3.5 Mixed Doubles - An intermediate round robin mixed doubles format. You don't need a partner. Each week you will have a different partner and play against a new combination of of opponents.
Total Body Toning- A unique & highly effective combination of floor exercises utilizing resistance with bands or hand weights, targeting all our problem areas & major muscle groups, to tone and lose weight. With your commitment, guarantees positive results!! Be prepared with a mat, water, & if possible, a resistance band or hand weights. Instructor will order you a band if desired.
Yoga-
Yoga is a practice that stretches the body and expands the mind. The class is open to all adults regardless of age or physical conditions. You will go at your own pace, according to your ability.
LANGUAGES
Conversational French I-
This is a French welcome for you to experience and learn a new language. You can spend several evenings learning new vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, different verb tenses, and how to incorporate them in a daily conversation. Come and challenge yourself to learn to speak another language and learn about a different culture. This is a terrific opportunity for anyone to take a refresher class in French.
Conversational French Advanced-
For those who have participated in French I & II.
Spanish Beginner-
Attain a desired level of proficiency in four basic skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Spanish 1.5-
This class is a continuation of Spanish I.
Spanish II-
This class is designed to broaden the student's level of achievement in basic skills, with special emphasis on communication.
Spanish 2.5-
This class is a continuation of Spanish II.
MISCELLANEOUS
Aviation Ground School-
This class will teach you about airplane aerodynamics, airspace, air traffic control, weather, federal aviation regulations, and many other aspects of flying. The goal of the course is to prepare the student to pass the FAA written test required for all pilots. The instructor, Kevin Formica, is a Certified Flight Instructor with multiple ratings.
Aviation Instrument Training-
This course is designed to teach you all that is necessary to pass the instrument rating knowledge test that is required before the instrument rating practical. Although practice testing is a component, this course will prepare you for a lifetime of safe instrument flying beyond simply cramming for the exam. The instructor, Kevin Formica, holds multiple certifications for flight instruction.
Dog Obedience-
This class will introduce the dog owner to the basic techniques for establishing pack leadership as well as providing hands on experiences and activities that will teach owner/handler how to teach their dog to heel, turn, about turn, sit, stay, down, and recall.
Minimum age for the puppies should be 6 mos.
Proof of vaccines and scoop bag required.
